unnamedSeveral years ago, Geneva Jackson, executive director of Sara’s House had a candid conversation with Rhonda Walker, Detroit television news anchor for WDIV Channel 4. Jackson said, “Besides needing housing and employment, one of the main things said over and over again was how badly they needed items for their baby. FOR THIS POPULATION THERE IS NO BABY SHOWER. This population can’t afford to CELEBRATE A NEW LIFE because they’re living in poverty. They are living minute by minute. They’re situations are TRAGIC.”
