Gray Matter is about a loving interracial suburban family who believe they are living the American dream with their two children, two-car garage home, nestled within the safety of an affluent community. However, when a series of unexpected events occur during their annual 4th of July barbecue, their world is turned upside down and their worst fears are imagined. It’s a whole lot of drama as family conflict and hidden feelings surface. They blame each other and more as emotions and fear are at an all-time high causing everyone to wonder if this seemingly perfect family will make it through the night. Perryman says, “Gray Matter explores more than cultural differences. It makes you think, laugh and realize that people are more alike than different and we have mutual desires, too.”
McKenzie shared, “The musical has 9-10 original songs that I scored. The musical is dramatic yet it is also joyful. I think Gray Matter is a musical romp that all generations can enjoy.” Here’s a sample of what you can expect musically. Listen to ‘Sparkle’ by Al McKenzie.
Taking the lead are Beth Griffith-Manley, Jerry Nehr, Augustus Williamson, Cathe Boudreau, Rosemarie Wilson, Aria Elizabeth and Jordan Lyons. In supporting roles are Kevin Cybulski, Dan Love and Darnell McLaurin.
DISCOVER BETH GRIFFITH
As a background vocalist for Grammy Award nominated KEM (Promise To Love) Beth Griffith is always on the road, literally. During 2015, Beth was on the road singing in front of sold-out arena audiences in over 25 cities with ‘The Forever Charlie Tour’ featuring Charlie Wilson with special guests KEM and Joe. But wait, the tour was so successful, a second leg was added in May with at least 18 more cities and Beth found herself yet, on the road again!
Beth found time to record a television commercial for Art Van Furniture Store called ‘True Colors’ with astonishing outcomes as it was the highest viewed production by Art Van to date garnering an organic 90,000 YouTube views since it’s television release in the Midwest. That spectacular R&B pop infused voice is Beth! She is a sought after voice over talent and singer. This is not the first commercial Beth has done for Art Van. Looks like Art Van Furniture knows a good thing when they hear it and it’s Beth Griffith.
